Seguro Directo was the first insurer to operate by telephone in Portugal, having started operations in November 1996. It is core business is essentially Car Insurance, but from 2002 it also provides Household Insurance and in 2007 Motorcycles Insurance, according to market requirements.
In 2005 Seguro Directo incorporated AXA Group, leading to a new stage that allowed it to take a proper space in the direct insurance market. It is bet on speed, efficiency and ease of subscription, made Seguro Directo a pioneer in online insurance since the beginning.
In 2008, under the sponsorship of Rock in Rio-Lisboa, Seguro Directo arouses its environmental awareness and launches the 1st Green Car Insurance in Portugal, pledging to plant a tree for every insurance subscribed and providing the documentation online in a way to contribute to paper savings.
